As of June 18 clients will use either a passport or an ID card for identification and SEB bank's branches
In accordance with the requirements of legislation in Latvia as of June 18 private individuals will be able to use either a passport or an ID card for identification in SEB bank's branches. Driver's permit will no longer be used for this purpose.
According to the 4th article of the Law on Personal Identification Documents, there are only two official types of personal identification documents: a passport and an ID card.
ID cards are becoming increasingly popular as a means of personal identification and this enables to use them to confirm identity of clients for processing financial transactions. According to the Office of Citizenship and Migration Affairs the number of issued ID cards continues to increase and more than 460 thousand people have a valid ID card. Meanwhile more than 1.5 million people have a valid passport.
