ANNOUNCEMENTS - 2019 12 18 - 10:00

In near future personal ID will be a must when using Smart-ID as authentication tool in to the Internet Bank

In near future customers – both private and business, who use Smart-ID to log in to the Internet Bank will have to enter not only the user ID, but also their personal identification code. This requirement will be implemented in all three Baltic States at the same time to provide additional security and minimise the risk of fraudulent situations.

“All SEB customers who use Smart-ID to log in to the Internet Bank will have to enter their personal identification code in addition to their username on the login page. Such a minor change will help to provide additional security to prevent attempted fraud,” explains Oskars Blumbergs, IT security expert at SEB.

SEB reminds its customers before they enter the PIN1 and PIN2 via Smart-ID, they must always make sure that they confirm only their own requests. Customers should also be careful when receiving e-mails and text messages indicating the opening of an online document or to restore their data on a website, as this may be an attempt to obtain customer approval for acts initiated b fraudsters.
