SEB banka receives the “Fair Trade Award”
Thursday, 14 June, Ieva Tetere received the “Fair Trade Award” of the Sustainability Index, awarded to SEB banka by the Parliamentary Secretary for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Zanda Kalniņa-Lukaševica for managing business based on the principles of respect, honesty and sustainability and building relationships with employees, suppliers, and business partners.
Pointing out to the significance of fair trade, the Parliamentary Secretary acknowledged SEB banka’s activity, paying particular attention to the sustainability of the business - responsible business practice, people and the community, as well as the environment.
"The Fair Trade Award is an initiative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs aimed at assessing companies that respect the corporate social responsibility principles developed by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) in external trade and manufacturing. This has been the fourth time that the award has gone to the company that has scored highest on the fair trade criteria. “I am pleased to note that each year, the winner represents a different industry,” Z. Kalniņa-Lukaševica said upon presenting the award.
The Award was established in 2015 as one of the joint initiatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Institute of Corporate Sustainability and Responsibility, and the Latvian Chamber of Commerce and Industry during the European Year for Development. Companies are evaluated according to criteria related to the sustainability index, which have been developed by the experts of the Institute of Corporate Sustainability and Responsibility.
In 2015, the Fair Trade Award went to SIA “CEMEX”, in 2016 to VAS “Latvenergo”, but in 2017 to SIA “RIMI Latvia”.
