353 million euros – 2nd and 3rd pension pillar assets managed by SEB in Latvia, invested according to highest responsibility standards
SEB strives to follow the principles of responsible investing, support sustainable enterprises in the whole world and the Baltics, as well as avoid initiatives that threaten the environment or social well-being. As of July 2019, more than 284 million euros of 2nd and 3rd pension pillar asset portfolio managed by SEB Investment Management were invested in assets that meet the highest responsibility standards set by SEB. In November 2020 the amount of such assets had increased by 69 million euros, in total reaching 353 million euros.
To prevent unethical and environmentally harmful investments, SEB selects investment funds by following UN Principles for Responsible Investment. They govern the diversification of investment opportunities, as well as assures current and future pension savers that the return of their investments will not be at the expense of non-renewable resources or create problems for society.
Responsible investing is based on three principles:
- exclusion of companies that pollute the environment or endanger the well-being of society;
- giving priority to sustainable and environmentally friendly entrepreneurship;
- promoting sustainable changes in companies by shareholders and management.
